Uline Inc. could be setting the stage for another round of expansion in Kenosha County with this month’s purchase of about 230 acres that was marketed for new industrial development near Interstate 94.
That $23.6 million purchase by Route 142 LLC, a company whose agent is Uline’s corporate real estate manager, was recently recorded. The land is on both sides of 38th Street, next to the city of Kenosha campus where Uline built more than 3.3 million square feet in four warehouses, the last completed in 2021.
The purchase of another 230 acres could mean more Uline buildings are on the way. The packaging materials company is among the fastest-growing businesses in the region, regularly either building or leasing large blocks of Kenosha County industrial space. Uline in early May, for example, gained city of Kenosha approval to lease a 756,728 square foot distribution facility at 8311 38th Street, on the opposite side of I-94 from the land the company recently acquired.
In October 2021, it reported an annual revenue of $5.8 billion and a southeastern Wisconsin employment of 2,900. Uline in 2008 announced plans to move its headquarters to Pleasant Prairie from Illinois. That $100 million project was expected to mean about 1,000 jobs.
