After seven years of work by community leaders and activists, Southport Beach House renovations are slated to begin in 2019.

The public is invited to join Mayor John Antaramian and the Southport Park Association board of directors for a groundbreaking ceremony at the beach house at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. Refreshments will be served at the event from 1 to 4 p.m.

Antaramian and the Common Council have allocated $1 million over five years toward repairs and renovations to the building exterior.
