Builder aims to deliver more than 100 homes to Pleasant Prairie, northern Kenosha

A Wisconsin developer is prepping to bring more than 100 homes to Kenosha County over the next few years, adding both entry-level and upscale housing to an area the company says is attracting transplants from Illinois who find it more feasible to live in Wisconsin.

Kenosha-based Douglas Kent Development is currently building out The Cottages at Village Green, a 72-home, upscale neighborhood in Pleasant Prairie that will have a total of 55 buildings, including 17 duplexes, when complete. The neighborhood, located north of Main Street at 47th Avenue, is currently in the first phase of development, which is 31 units. The developer broke ground on the 18-acre site in September 2017 and 14 buildings are under construction, said Doug Stanich, who runs the business with his son, Todd.
