The polycarbonate windows Five Star Fabricating Inc. manufactures in Randall may not be as sexy as the race car bodies they are famous for.
However, it is a product desired by companies ranging from John Deere to Tesla and is the reason the company has begun a major expansion.
The company, founded in 1979, broke ground Friday on a new 123,000-square-foot building to house its quickly expanding window and coating operation. President and CEO Carl Schultz said the new building nearly doubles the company’s footprint.
“We added 20,000 more square feet before the plan was complete,” Schultz said. “We are growing like crazy.”
