KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship Program


The Kenosha Area Business Alliance Foundation recognizes that Kenosha County’s higher education institutions are among the most important in preparing a talented workforce and attracting new investment to our community. KABA plays a direct role in workforce retention efforts by providing financial assistance to students who attend local colleges and universities in pursuit of high-demand careers.

KABA offers annual scholarships to recognize talented high school seniors in the Kenosha Area whose actions link personal interests and talents with various career options, and who are pursuing post-secondary education within Kenosha County. Scholarships are awarded to those students who intend to pursue a major or career-path in math, science, technology, medicine, engineering, business, finance or accounting.

KABA is pleased to announce the 2015 Catalyst2Careers Scholarship Program to students who will attend one of the following Kenosha County colleges or universities:


Carthage College

Intended for students enrolled at Carthage College during the 2015-16 academic year.

One $1,000 per year renewable scholarships (four-year value: $4,000) will be awarded to a Kenosha County resident/Kenosha County high school graduate. A 2.5 Carthage College GPA is required for renewal. All applicants meeting the criteria listed below will be considered, and first-generation college students are especially encouraged to apply.

You must submit your application for admission and supporting materials to Carthage to be eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Kenosha County resident
  • Graduate of a Kenosha County high school (public or private)
  • Applicants who intend to pursue a career in math, science, technology, medicine, engineering or business are preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in these careers through work-related or extra-curricular/community involvement preferred
  • Students with a high school GPA of 3.0 or greater and ACT of 23 or greater (or SAT of 1060 or greater) are preferred

To be considered for the KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship a student must complete the following steps:

  • Be admitted to Carthage as a new full-time, fall 2015 freshman. (You must submit your application for admission application for admission and supporting materials to Carthage by March 1, 2015, to be eligible for the scholarship.)
  • Submit the KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship application and essay by March 1, 2015.

University of Wisconsin – Parkside

Intended for students enrolled at UW-Parkside for the 2015-16 academic year.

Three (3) new, freshman students who have graduated from a Kenosha County high school will receive a half-tuition scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year. All applicants meeting the criteria listed below will be given preference.

You must submit your application for admission and supporting materials to UW-Parkside to be eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Kenosha County resident
  • Graduate of a Kenosha County high school (public or private)
  • First-generation student to attend a four-year college
  • Applicants who intend to pursue a career in math, science, technology, medicine, engineering, business, finance or accounting
  • Compelling personal statement regarding passion/interest in these career fields
  • Demonstrated interest in these careers through work-related or extra-curricular/community involvement preferred
  • Students with a high school cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater and ACT of 23 or greater, and demonstrate and unmet financial need are preferred

To be considered for the KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship a student must complete the following steps:

  • Be admitted to UW-Parkside as a full-time, fall 2014 freshman.
  • Submit the KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship application and essay by April 1, 2015.

Gateway Technical College

Intended for students enrolled at Gateway Technical College for the 2015-16 academic year.

Two (2) new, freshman students who have graduated from a Kenosha County high school will receive a $1,000 scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year. All applicants meeting the criteria listed below will be given preference.

You must submit your application for admission and supporting materials to Gateway Technical College to be eligible for this scholarship. Scholarship Criteria:

  • Kenosha County resident
  • Graduate of a Kenosha County high school (public or private)
  • Applicants who intend to pursue a career in math, science, technology, medicine, engineering, business, finance or accounting
  • Compelling personal statement regarding passion/interest in these career fields
  • Provide two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Obtain a high school cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater
  • Students who demonstrate and unmet financial need and have demonstrated interest in these careers through work-related or extra-curricular/community involvement will receive preference

To be considered for the KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship a student must complete the following steps:

  • Be admitted to Gateway Technical College as a full-time student.
  • Submit the KABA Catalyst2Careers Scholarship application by March 16, 2015.

KABA has also designated one (1) $1,000 scholarship for the 2015-16academic year for Adult Learners who enroll full-time at Gateway Technical College to pursue a degree in math, science, technology, medicine, engineering, business, finance or accounting.
